Enabling the mouse on Windows 2000

By default the mouse is not enabled for a console mode program on Windows 2000.  This includes the DOS box.  This means that the mouse will not work with MACREX until enabled.

1 To enable the mouse at the time of installing MACREX

1.1 Install MACREX

1.2 At the end of the installation there will be a window on the screen labelled Macrex Version 7 on the left hand side. In the window there will be an several icons, one of them labelled "Macrex Version 7". Right click this icon.

1.3 Select "Properties" from the drop down menu.

1.4 Select the tab labelled "Options"

1.5 Under "Edit Options" section on the bottom right hand side uncheck the "QuickEdit mode" box (ie make sure there is not a tick by it).

1.6 Click "Apply" and then "OK"

1.7 You can then close all the windows and complete the installation

2 To enable the mouse after installing MACREX

2.1 Right click on "Start" (bottom left hand side of the desktop).

2.2 Select "Open all users" from the popup menu.

2.3 Double click the "Programs" folder in the window that appears.

2.4 Double click the "Macrex Version 7" folder in the new window.

2.5 Proceed from 1.2 above

3 To enable the mouse if you want to run MACREX from a DOS box

3.1 Right click on "Start" (bottom left hand side of the desktop).

3.2 Select "Open" from the popup menu.

3.3 Double click the "Programs" folder in the window that appears.

3.4 Double click the "Accessories" folder in the new window.

3.5 Right click on the icon labelled "Command Prompt"

3.6 Proceed from 1.3 above.
